Prostate Function - Pumpkin seed oil has been used effectively in symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). Researchers have suggested that the zinc, free fatty acid, or plant sterol content of pumpkin seeds might account for their benefit in men with BPH. Studies have shown that pumpkin seed extracts can improve the function of the bladder and urethra, this might partially account for BPH symptom relief.

Excessive levels of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a common cause of both hair loss and prostate problems for men. Pumpkin seed oil contains many beneficial health nutrients and two in particular that are believed to provide protection against DHT damage. Here’s how pumpkin seed oil can help maintain healthy hair and prevent male prostate enlargement.

Hair Growth: Pumpkin seed oil stimulates hair growth, and it appears to block dihydrotestosterone in the liver, a major cause of hair loss. Zinc in pumpkin oil thickens hair growth, boosts the speed of hair growth and prevents hair loss. Pumpkin oil can treat Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) or say male pattern baldness effectively without any side effects. Stimulates hair growth, contains vitamin A, B6, & C, L-lysine, zinc, magnesium, and iron, all are good for hair growth.

According to a study published by the US National Library of Medicine, pumpkin seed oil was shown to block the action of 5-alpha reductase. The enzyme 5-alpha reductase is the main antagonist in androgenetic alopecia. This study was published in the Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine Journal in 2014. In the study, 76 male patients with varying degrees of hair loss used pumpkin oil or received a placebo. Average hair counts in the men who received pumpkin seed oil showed increases of 40%.

Cholesterol Lowering - Pumpkin seed oil has been concurrently used with cholesterol lowering drugs and would appear to potentiate the overall lipid lowering effects. The positive effects on lowering LDL levels and increasing HDL levels are most likely due to the antioxidant and essential fatty acid content of pumpkin seed oil. Side effects of the cholesterol drug were also reduced when pumpkin seed oil was administered. Similar positive results have been found in concomitant use of pumpkin seed oil with anti-hypertensive medication. The hypotensive action is due to the EFAs and antioxidant capability of PSO.

Heart Healthy Magnesium - One tea spoon  of pumpkin seeds oil contains nearly half of the recommended daily amount of magnesium  which participates in a wide range of vitally important physiological functions, including the creation of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the energy molecules of your body), the synthesis of RNA and DNA, the pumping of your heart, proper bone and tooth formation, relaxation of your blood vessels, and proper bowel function. Magnesium has been shown to benefit your blood pressure and help prevent sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke, yet an estimated 80 per cent of middle aged people are deficient in this important mineral.

Further on Magnesium: Magnesium is as important as Potassium and Calcium to our body. Only 1 percent of magnesium in your body is in your bloodstream, so often you can have a deficiency, and it would not even be discovered by a common blood test.

Magnesium is involved with over 300 metabolic processes in our bodies, leading to the mineral being called the ‘master mineral’.  So what exactly does it mean to have a magnesium deficiency, and what are some magnesium deficiency symptoms?

1. Headaches including Migraine attacks.

2. Leg Cramps or muscle spasms.

3. Insomnia ( sleep disorders)

4. Anxiety

5. High Blood Pressure.

6.Frequent or early fatigue.

7. Osteoporosis.

Persons having these symptoms must consume adequate magnesium rich foods regularly. Pumpkin Seed Oil is a natural rich source of Magnesium.

Great natural source of Proteins: One tablespoon serving of pumpkin seeds oil, is full of proteins ( about 15% RDI of protein). Pumpkin seed has all the 9 essential amino acids other than non essential amino acids. These helps in making building blocks of tissues and muscles. Proteins are involved in practically every function performed by a cell. Responsible for creation of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the energy molecules of your body), the synthesis of RNA and DNA, the pumping of your heart, proper bone and tooth formation, relaxation of your blood vessels, and proper bowel function.

Anti Parasitic - It contains amino acid that has shown anti-parasitic activity in vitro. Human studies conducted in China have shown pumpkin seeds to be helpful for people with acute schistosomiasis, a severe parasitic disease occurring primarily in Asia and Africa that is transmitted through snails. Preliminary human research conducted in China and Russia has shown pumpkin seeds can assist with resolving tapeworm infestations.

Kidney Finction - Pumpkin seeds appear to both reduce levels of substances that promote stone formation in the urine and increase levels of compounds that inhibit stone formation. Some research has demonstrated that PSO could remarkably reduce bladder pressure, increase bladder compliance, and reduce urethral pressure. Dosage One to three teaspoons daily. Best taken with food. Potential applications Rheumatoid arthritis, elevated blood lipids and cholesterol, parasitic infestation, BPH, kidney/bladder disorders. Useful in maintaining skin health. The high tryptophan content of the seeds may make the oil useful in cases of insomnia. A nutritious culinary oil.

Anti Arthritic - Studies have shown that pumpkin seed oil is as potent as the drug indomethacin at relieving chronic rheumatoid arthritis. It is likely that this effect is due to the essential fatty acid profile, rich antioxidant content, and the synergistic effects of other minor components. Pumpkin seeds have been shown to have high levels of vitamin E, including all forms of the tocopherol family i.e. alpha, beta, delta, and gamma tocopherol, along with the tocotrienols.

Zinc for Immune Support - Pumpkin seed oil is a rich source of zinc (one ounce contains more than 15 mg of this beneficial mineral). Zinc is important to your body in many ways, including immunity, cell growth and division, sleep, mood, your senses of taste and smell, eye and skin health, insulin regulation, and male sexual function.

Many are deficient in zinc due to mineral-depleted soils, drug effects, plant-based diets, and other diets high in grain. This deficiency is associated with increased colds and flu, chronic fatigue, depression, acne, low birth weight babies, learning problems and poor school performance in children, among others.

Plant-Based Omega-3 Fats -  Pumpkin seed oil, are one of the best sources of plant-based omega-3s (alpha-linolenic acid or ALA). We all need ALA, however, ALA has to be converted by your body into the far more essential omega-3 fats EPA and DHA -- by an enzyme in which the vast majority of us have impaired by high insulin levels. So, while pumpkin seeds are an excellent source of ALA, I believe it is essential to get some of your omega-3 fats from animal sources, such as krill oil, as well.

My hairfall was arrested and new hair started growing faster with greater speed. I took 25 drops of this pumpkin oil by mouth and had applied it on my scalp mixed with coconut oil. I have got excellent results.

    Leg Cramps

I get leg cramps at night. I used to take pain killers for severe leg cramps and pain. Then my Doctor told it might be because of magnesium deficiency, and suggested to take some supplement for that. I checked on net for some natural supplement, and ordered this oil. I started getting relief even after a week. Now after almost 2 months I can tell you that my problem is solved majorly.

        Measurable results

I'm a naturalist and believe in DIY and kitchen/home remedies. Being an ardent follower of Farah Dhukai, I was desperately looking for pumpkin oil for hair problems. Trust me the results are instant and there for us to see. Do try this oil every night with a drop or 2 of peppermint oil and apply this warm oil before bed every night, mine literally grew by a cm and a half in 10 days.

I'm now eagerly awaiting your new hair fall oil !! :-)
